While I enjoyed the behind the scenes romp through the back alleys of the cruise ship with the crew, I was deeply dismayed at the writing or to be more precise, the character of the protagonist, the author. He strikes me as immature, self-centered and bent on drama. No matter the situation he seems to see it in the most absurd way. The very idea that this man is on a crew for a cruise I would be a passenger on is frightening in itself. No experience and no idea what the heck he is doing and drunk as often as possible, while beating off female flirts with a stick every time he turns around. I won’t go so far as other have said and say its a fantasy. There are those with an inflated image of themselves and they are the heroes of their stories. That’s just how they see it. I have no problem believing he believes this to be all true and that he is in the right at all times. I will not be finishing this book or moving on to the rest of the series as every minute I spend reading these books I could have spent reading better quality tomes.

Building a Second Brain
I just finished this book this morning.
I am going to take some time to put together my notes on it.
For the moment, I am really a fan of Maggie Appleton’s Illustrated Notes on this book.
I have recently started using Obsidian as my note-taking/note-making app of choice and I will probably cogitate over there for a bit.
Never Split the Difference
I listened to this book in the car and read it on a digital copy when I could. I found it very sensible as well as eye-opening.
There are many resources online as it seems this book has inspired a lot of people to summarize and take notes.
I’m looking forward to implementing the ideas in this book, however first I will start listening more closely to see if I discover anyone naturally using some of these methods and observing the outcomes.
I really do wonder if my bosses have read this book as their whole business depends on negotiation at its core. I would like to attend a mediation (out-of view) one day to see negotiation of that sort in action.
